OUR 2025 “CELEBRATING EVERYTHING” WALT DISNEY WORLD TRIP: DAY 2 (SWITCHING RESORTS!! DISNEY SPRINGS!!! FRIENDS ARRIVE!!!! TIM ROBINSON!!!!!)

Hey everyone!!

Time for another post covering our trip down to Walt Disney World in May/June 2025. And this one covers Day 2. Yet another day where we are at Walt Disney World but don’t visit a park.

So that’s fun.

I mean, well I think so.

How about we read your post about Walt Disney World?

Oh, you don’t have one?

That’s what I thought.

So shut it. And just read the stupid post.

Oh hey also I wanted to mention – Myles vlogged this trip and has started publishing his videos. His videos are a lot like these blog posts.

Except they have sound.

And movement.

And are good.

So you should check them out. Here is his channel – Myles is Not Good and here is the first video (all he’s posted so far):

Dude is pretty talented.

He gets that from Nickie.

Enjoy the post!!

Our 2025 “Celebrating Everything” Walt Disney World Trip: Day 2

OK so just to remind you guys – we were waking up on Day 2 in our room at the Animal Kingdom Lodge, our first hotel of this trip (out of three).

And to kick Day 2 off right, Nickie and I woke up, got our gym clothes on, and headed right on down to the Zahanati Fitness Center to preemptively burn some calories before what promised to be a heavy duty breakfast.

We both hopped on some available treadmills and I was able to get a nice 3-miles in to start the day.

I will say, though. While I definitely appreciate they had some treadmills available, it was HAWT in there. I don’t know why, but Disney fitness centers are like never as air conditioned as you want them to be. It’s like…

Amirite?

After getting our treadmill on, Nickie and I grabbed a couple coffees at The Mara.

But that coffee was just a little precursor. Because breakfast was happening so soon you guys.

So exciting.

So we got up to the room, got showered and changed, and woke the boys up. We were switching resorts today, but since we didn’t have to check out until 11:00, we left our bags in the room with a plan to pick them up after breakfast to transfer over to our next destination.

Aw yeah let’s eat!

Breakfast today was on the bottom floor at Animal Kingdom Lodge at Boma – Flavors of Africa, which many consider to be the best buffet in all of Walt Disney World.

And I mean, I think I probably agree. We have pictures of us at Boma from the trip we took when Owen was 8 weeks old and Myles was 3 and we have kept on coming back since so that has to say something.

We checked in at the front and soon enough, we were being led to our table.

Our waitress took our drink orders and then told us we were free to hit the buffet. And when the waitress gives me permission to go up to the buffet, I always hear it like…

But yeah, let’s do it.

The Boma breakfast buffet is a pretty incredible situation – full of a bunch of breakfast standards like Bacon, Sausages, Pancakes, Waffles, Egg Dishes…

…as well as African-inspired dishes like Bobotie and this amazing Chakalaka…

…and some delicious, unique offerings like these Smoked Salmon Deviled Eggs and Seasonal Bread Pudding (this go-round it was Butterscotch).

Yah, it’s a lot. And I am here for every single foot of that buffet.

But today, I was trying to keep things under control. The night before, I found myself feeling far too full and being like sick-full is just way too common a feeling for me at Walt Disney World. So my plan was to go up, get one plate, and then like…that’s it.

Came close. I mean, what? I wasn’t going to NOT get Bread Pudding. And it just wouldn’t fit.

But like, look. I got fruit you guys. Melon. I’m like an adult. With the fruit and the being healthy

But yeah, I also got a Simba Waffle.

OK though – plate rundown. So yeah, there was the Bread Pudding, Melon, and Waffle. In addition to that, I grabbed a Ham and Cheese Omelet, Bacon, Sausage, Carved Ham (with Mustard), Breakfast Potatoes, Bobotie, Chakalaka, and some of those Smoked Salmon Deviled Eggs (they’re there, just under the Omelet).

And you know what? Every single thing pictured there was all kinds of delicious. Boma? More like WHOA-ma. As in WHOA every single thing pictured there was all kinds of delicious.

Oh guys, also? This drink.

That there is a Zebra Dome Cold Brew (Joffrey’s Coffee Cold Brew French Roast, South African Amarula Cream Liqueur, Godiva Chocolate Liqueur, Whipped Cream, garnished with a Zebra Dome.)

Yah, a full on Zebra Dome on there. And this drink was rull good. Myles got one too and we both agreed it was $17 well spent.

Oh also? I went back up to the buffet.

But I did it because Nickie said she wanted some more Breakfast Potatoes. I mean, though…while I was up there, I figured I’d get a Mickey Waffle.

Guys, it was my first Disney breakfast. I couldn’t skip out on a Mickey Waffle.

Come on. You know me batter than that.

Batter.

….

Ahem.

Such a great first Disney breakfast tho. Boma=best.

After breakfast, we all waddled up to the room to get our bags. But before we headed out, we wanted to get one more shot of this view.

And one more shot of this view.

Slay.

In the past (and in the future, spoiler alert), we have had Disney transfer our luggage when switching resorts but since we weren’t heading to a park or anything, it made more sense to bring it ourselves. So we got our luggage together and ordered an UberXL to take us to our new home for the night – Disney’s Old Key West Resort!

I love this resort because as soon as you step onto property, it feels like you’ve been transported to…

Florida.

It literally feels like you are IN Florida here. Wild.

But seriously, I do kind of love this resort. It’s Florida-themed, yes, but it gives a sort of Del Boca Vista Florida kind of vibe with it’s laid-back condo sort of feel.

We didn’t have a room at this point, given it was like 11AM, so we left our bags with Bell Services. But thankfully, we were wearing our bathing suits on account of we were going to be bathing.

In the pool.

Sorry. Swimming.

We were gonna be swimming in the pool.

Sorry I made that weird.

To make it up to you, here’s some trivia we saw in the gift shop.

Feel free to post your answers in the comments. If you can get all 5 right, I’ll shout you out in the next post.

What do you mean that’s not a good prize? I’d make you immortal.

To the pool!

Walk with me.

But there she is. Behold. The pool.

We ended up finding some chairs open in the sand near the playground, which meant the kids could do fun kinds of things like this.

Myles really needs some sun. He looks a little pail.

The pool was also fun. Old Key West has kind of a low-key great pool AND a great waterslide. And you guys, the pool was totez necessary. Because today was hot AF.

As Fire, right? That’s what “AF” means? Comment below.

And they were playing pool games you guys. They were playing a Disney Name That Tune situation. Myles legit killed that entire game. Dude knows his Disney fo sho.

Oh there was also a situation at the pool where Owen lost his magic band in the pool and this older guy and his granddaughter found it for him. Which was great. Then it kind of went downhill.

The grandfather ended up talking to me and said he was from Texas, and when he asked me where I was from and said “Massachusetts” he said “oh well I’m sure what people say about it being all liberals there isn’t true.” So I said, “oh no, we’re liberal.”

Weirdly, I never talked to that man again.

I miss him.

Annnyway…

While the pool was helping beat the heat, it felt like we needed a little something more. Something cold. Something refreshing. Something…

Alcoholic.

What’d you just call me?

I can stop whenever I want to.

Annnnyway, let’s head over to the Gurgling Suitcase for some sweet, sweet alcohol!

Nickie’s excited!!

But why wouldn’t she be? I mean, look at all this wonderful.

I was planning on getting a Tito’s and Soda, but I ended up going with the Turtle Krawl (Siesta Key White Rum, Parrot Bay Coconut Rum, and Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum with Grenadine, Pineapple, Orange, and Key Lime Juices), since the bartender informed us it was their most popular drink.

And I am nothing if not a follower.

But yeah, it was a delicious drink. Just all kinds of flavors going on in there. It was like there was a party in my mouth and everyone was invited.

Nickie got her usual – a Captain’s Mai Tai (Captain Morgan Original Spiced Rum, Bols Amaretto Liqueur, and Tropical Juices topped with a float of Myers’s Original Dark Rum).

Myles went with the Bourbon Berry Lemonade (Woodford Reserve Bourbon, Bols Blackberry Brandy, and Minute Maid® Premium Lemonade with a splash of Soda Water) and Owen got a Coke (Carbonated Water, High Fructose Corn Syrup, Caramel Color, Phosphoric Acid, Natural Flavors, Caffeine).

After we finished our drinks, the boys made the nonsensical decision to play basketball. Nickie and I meanwhile grabbed a couple drinks to bring back to our beach chairs. On the way over to the chairs, though, we stopped off at the court to make sure the kids hadn’t died.

Phew.

I also kind of have to shout-out Myles, who went all the way back to the other end of the court, called his shot, and legit drained it. I’ve never been prouder of that kid.

Well, that Bourbon Berry Lemonade was a pretty stellar order actually.

Let’s call those two moments a tie.

But now that we’ve done our parental duty ensuring our kids were still breathing, it was off to the beach chairs. And look. I got my Tito’s & Soda.

A legit perfect summertime drink. It’s basically water. Look at it.

Water.

Oh also – Nickie and I took another dip in the pool and participated in some more pool games, including both a Pixar and a Disney park attractions bracket. Basically, the cast members would yell out two Pixar movies (or in the case of the attractions bracket, two attractions) and people would raise their hands to indicate their pick and this would go round by round until we got to an ultimate winner.

In the Pixar bracket, Toy Story won.

In the attractions bracket, Guardians of the Galaxy won.

Neither were my pick, though I mean Guardians is at least a respectable choice. Rise of the Resistance is the obvious winner but I get the Guardians choice. But like there was a point where people chose Seven Dwarfs Mine Train over Pirates of the Caribbean. Blasphemy.

And don’t even get me started on that Pixar situation. Toy Story over Ratatouille. WALL-E losing to Cars?

I was just so mad at everyone in that pool. How DARE they.

A little time check – that picture up there was taken at around 1:30. At close to 2:30, the kids finished up their game and met us over near Good’s to Go, Old Key West’s grab-and-go quick service location since the boys wanted Mickey Ice Cream bars.

Look how happy Owen was about this idea.

Nickie and I ordered a couple Miller Lites.

And while we were in line, a woman in front of us asked us if we wanted her soda cups since sodas came with the meals she ordered for her family but she already had a refillable mug.

Man, you KNOW we wanted some free soda. Thanks nice lady in line in front of us!

And more good news? Another trivia board!!

Again, feel free to comment your answers below. Please? I just wanna know someone is reading this thing.

While we were there, drinking free soda and answering Pixar-related trivia questions, and being all awesome like we do, we saw that our room was ready!!!

So we quickly grabbed up our stuff and walked over to Bell Services to grab our luggage and grab a ride on a golf cart over to our room.

By 3:30, we were in our room!

Look at this place. Old Key West? More like “Oh, We Best.”

Sorry.

Anyway right. Though look at this living room.

And this tub we will never use!

There was even a washer and dryer happening up in here.

And this picture I couldn’t figure out how to steal.

Though to be fair, we do have a similar (but shhhh kinda better) one hanging in our dining room…

*NOTE: That picture is hanging in our dining room and was NOT stolen. It was a gift from the Falzones (whom I will talk about in a minute). Though, to be fair, I have no idea where they got it from.

So take THAT Disney. We win.

We also had a nice big balcony/porch off both the living room and one of the bedrooms.

This room was also a 2-bedroom y’all. One room had a King bed.

And the other had two Queens.

Plus both the couch and chair in the living room folded out. Lots of places to sleep in this thing.

Which was good because we weren’t the only ones staying here tonight.

Yup – we had another family coming to join us tonight AND they were here for the rest of the trip! The Falzones were coming!!! Tony, Larissa, and Mia were going to be getting in later tonight, which was super exciting. We were only going to be at Old Key West for one night, but we were looking forward to having a 2 bedroom. You know, because of the vibes. The “hanging out” vibes.

That living room had all the “hanging out” vibes.

But.

But.

BUT.

BUtttttttt….

The Falzones weren’t arriving until later so we still had some daylight between us and them. Our plan was to head to Disney Springs for the afternoon. Our room was in a pretty prime location at Old Key West, only like a short walk across the street to the bus stop.

Let’s goooo!

Bussin.

According to the timestamp of this next photo, it looks like we got to Disney Springs at 4:20.

4:20, amirite?

You know?

YOU know.

Dinner time!!!

And for dinner tonight, we decided to eat at Chicken Guy!

And that exclamation point is part of the title you guys. Disney is super excited about Chicken Guy. I read it like “Chicken GUY!”

It’s not top of the muffin TO YOU.

But yeah, we were also super excited about Chicken Guy!

I mean, most of us (I think except Myles) have never actually eaten here. And who doesn’t love chicken tendies. Plus, I mean…Guy Fieri.

Disclaimer: We did not actually meet Guy Fieri. That is a picture.

And like, we got Chicken Tenders. Doy. And Fries.

These were some good Chicken Tenders you guys. The Panko breading added a nice crunch to them and, like, I ordered five and was intensely full. I could have gotten three and been happy. Real happy.

ACTION SHOT!!

Plus, we did also get Fried Pickles.

Which were really good. Though not as good as Sweet Pickles.

No. Not sweet pickles the food. Sweet Pickles the animal-costumed children’s book slash learning tools delivery service.

Oh the 80s? They were wild.

Shudder.

It was a rainy day in Disney Springs today.

Which meant it was a great day for the movies, right?

Of course it was.

So yeah, we went to the movies. And we saw the Tim Robinson/Paul Rudd movie Friendship, which was a movie me and the boys were looking forward to for a while, as fans of both Tim Robinson and Paul Rudd.

And friendship!

Nickie was also um.

Happy to hang out with us.

She’s not the biggest Tim Robinson fan. Is what I am saying to you now.

I obvs squad couldn’t take any pictures of the actual movie on account of illegalness. But it was great stuff. Super funny. Super awkward. Super random.

Exactly what we wanted it to be.

Oh, and we had a couple beers in the movies. Durr.

After the movie ended, we weren’t quite ready to head back to the resort just yet. So I mean what to do in Disney Springs?

Good call, Batman.

Oh, sorry. Bruce.

Nickie wanted to stop in Sephora so while she did that, the boys and I decided to check out a much more masculine store.

Disney Ever After.

Look at this place. So much testosterone.

Muy macho.

But Sephora was a successful stop for Nickie as she bought some…

I wanna say rouge?

Eye shadow?

Lipliner?

I dunno. Something she really liked for sure though.

Before heading back, we did have one more store we needed to hit – World of Disney!

Unforch, the World of Disney was a little bit of a walk from where we were and it did start raining pretty hard while we were making our way there. But make it we did.

And place was a MADHOUSE. Like, literally, everyone was running in all different directions trying to buy their Disney merch and escape the rain. I literally felt like I was a mattress salesman trying to buy a Turbo Man for my son that loves karate.

I WANT TO GIVE THE DOLL TO JAMIE!!!

But thankfully? I was there with one specific purchase in mind. I was in the market for some Crocs. Which was a big deal on account of I have never ever ever had a pair of Crocs. In fact, I have always sort of rebelled against Crocs so this was a shift for sure.

But it was time. I was looking for some comfortable shoes to wear in the park and all I brought on the trip were Slides, a pair of Vans, Flip-Flops, and while I did have a new pair of Disney Brooks sneakers (thanks to Nickie), they were more for working out than walking around the park.

OK ready. Witness history.

Behold. My new Stitch Crocs.

Kind of slick, right? TBH? I have been wearing these things like non-stop since I bought them. I mean, don’t get me wrong. I’m still a Vans girlie or whatever but I kind of mess with Crocs now.

And by the time we left the store, the rain had calmed quite a bit, which was nice.

The Falzones were gonna be arriving soon, so it was time to get back to Old Key West. We were at the bus stop at around 8:20. And look at this good boy that was pulling up.

We were back at Old Key West by like 8:35. We were planning on meeting the Falzones back at the Gurgling Suitcase, but we had to stop in at the Common Room real quick because look at this situation.

The coziest.

If I had to do a multi-family situation again at Disney World? I would totally choo-choo-choose this resort again.

Get it? Because train.

When we got to the Gurgling Suitcase, I went with my old standby – Tito’s & Soda.

And Nickie ordered what was apparently the most transparent wine ever made.

And at 9:15? Look. LOOOOOKKKKK!!!!

It’s the Falzones!!!!1111one one

Tony and Larissa! And I swear Mia was there too. For some reason, my picture-taking became an issue the rest of tonight and I didn’t get a picture of her. But no worries – trust me, I have a lot of pics of Mia for future posts.

Tony and I ordered a couple Buffalo Traces on the rocks.

Which, I mean, was obvs good. It was Buffalo Trace. Hurr durr.

Like I said, I wasn’t the best at taking the pictures tonight but we did get some food too. We got the Pulled Pork Nachos (Potato Chips topped with Jalapeño, Pepper Jack, Mozzarella, Pico de Gallo, and Sour Cream) and Spinach and Artichoke Dip (Gruyère, Ciabatta, and Lemon). Both of which were very good. But yeah, no pics.

On account of I’m not good.

At the blogging.

No pictures of the food. But I do have a picture of Pascal Siakam?

I’m very good at this.

And if you all were worried that was the last picture I have of a television screen, well do I have a treat for you. Because after we finished up at the Gurgling Suitcase, we all went back to the room and after we all got settled and what not, we put on High School Musical 2.

Because it’s the best High School Musical.

And I mean, is there a better way to end a blog than with Troy and Gabriella?

Well, even if there is, whatever. This is how it’s ending.

That was Day 2. But stay tuned for Day 3 – where we do actually do go to a park. A water park. But a park nonetheless.

Until then, y’all!

Next post – Day 3!

Last post – Day 1
