DISNEY NOVEMBER 2017 – DAY 1!!!!

First day at Disney today. Whattttt?????

But slow down a minute. Took us a little to get here.

The day started hella early. We were up at 3:30 in the AM. Yeah let that one sink in. Even the early bird be like, “pfft no worm is worth that.”

These kids will legit do anything for disney

We got our stuff together, I made some coffee in the room and we were off. We jumped on the shuttle to the airport and you know what that means….FIRST RIDE OF THE DAY!!

Not quite the magical express but

We got to the airport and of course one of our bags was over 50 pounds. So we moved some stuff around and we were good to go.

And Owen and I noticed that people kept talking to us all morning. The baggage ladies. This random guy at the hotel. When you look like you’re going to Disney, everyone wants to be your friend. Which I like. Because I crave attention.

We made it through security rather quickly and grabbed some breakfast at Au Bon Pain. I got a skinny egg white and cheddar sandwich, the boys each got cinnamon buns and Nickie got a muffin. Oh and coffee. Obviously. Because coffee.

Then it was onto the first leg of the flight. Yeah, connection today. Womptown. But the flight to Charlotte was super smooth and we all got some much needed rest.

Teenagers and their sleep, right? I mean what is the DEAL with teenagers?
I SWEAR he rested after this.

We landed in Charlotte around 8:30 and had a quick layover. Then it was off to Disney World!

Did I mention we were going to Disney World?

So we jumped on a very short bit very bumpy ride down to Orlando.  And yay, we found Christmas!

Can you imagine such a tree?

Once off, we made our way right for Magical Express. Baggage claim is for suckers.

For the record this wasn’t our actual driver
The obligatory Magical Express selfie
And the obligatory…this

For our first night we are staying at Disney Art of Animation resort. We have never ever stayed here so we were pretty excited to check the place out, even if just for one night.

It was a little rainy when we got there but this place is super duper cool town.

They greeted us with some Mickey stickers and we checked in.

And super magically, our room was ready when we got here. And this room is frakkin awesome.

Ooh I get to shower with Ariel. Wait that didn’t come out right. No actually yeah it did. #creep

And look who I ran into…#Stacy! This picture? A must do.

After a quick spruce up in the room, we headed out for the Magic Kingdom, which is kind of a big deal for us. We never ever ever go to a park on our first day. But we got fastpasses and have some other awesomeness planned so we figured it was worth a shot.

As soon as we walked into the park, the Festival of Fantasy parade was just ending

Magical AND terrifying

And Talking Mickey was a ten-minute wait. So the first thing we did on this trip? We. Met. Mickey. What??

The mouse. The myth. The legend.

We then made our way over to the fire station to get some Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom cards. And they set us up with a mission in frontierland/liberty square. Which worked out since our early dinner was there. Also, we asked for that.

On our way we snapped some pics.

Oh and we also saw these dudes talking bout Murrica.

Our mission had us chasing Dr Facilier all over Liberty Square and Frontierland. That dude is Such. A. Jerk. He stole some sort of Crystal or some kind of thing. I don’t know. The story was really hard to follow.

Then it was finally time to eat. We hadn’t eaten for a little while and we were actually starving. Being hungry in Disney is a new and strange sensation. Typically, you eat here before hunger kicks in. Preemptive strike I guess.

Dinner today was at Liberty Tree Tavern. And it was awesome. We got the Patriots Platter, which was salad, turkey, pork, pot roast, stuffing, mashed potatoes, green beans. We ate ALLLL the food.

Wine in the Magic Kingdom? Game changer.

And for dessert we onviously had the Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake. Because Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake.

Man we ate A LOT.

Then we had some rides to ride. Pirates. Haunted Mansion. Mickey’s Philharmagic. Carousel of Progress. Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin. PeopleMover.  I know. I can sense your jealousy from here.

After all that awesome? VIP time. We had reservations for the Happily Ever After Dessert Party. And I know what you’re thinking. “Hey fatty. Dessert? Seriously?”

Shut up.

There were so many eating things here. Cupcakes. Oreos with gray stuff. Cheesecake. Chocolate covered strawberries. Ice cream sundaes. Shame. Regret.

The perfect plate for sharing. Except I didn’t.
That chocolate is for dipping. Not drinking. I know. I was confused too.

But the big draw of this dessert party is the prime seating for the new Happily Ever After fireworks. So this was our first time seeing the new show and I mean, I never thought I would say it but “better than Wishes.”

I know. I feel awful. We both know it though, wishes. I took like a zillion pics. Here are a few…

All in all I think the dessert party was worth it. Not only did we have a good seat in the rose gatden for the fireworks but we could see all the projections too.

And I have to call out the awesome woman that ripped up her poncho to let us sit on it because the grass was wet. Her brand new poncho. People are so awesome. Thanks Poncho Lady!

After the fireworks, I had grabbed a last minute fastpass for Winnie the Pooh. So we got a last ride through the 100 acre woods before we left. And I took a pic but I can’t out blurry so I won’t post out of shame.

Man what an incredible first day. It feels like we have been here forever and we haven’t even been here one full day yet. The going-to-the-park-on-the-first-day experiment worked out.

We all were saying this may be our favorite first day ever. Thanks Magic Kingdom.

And thanks family!

Such a great day. Tomorrow, another resort, another park, and more guests. So excited.

  1. Another great entry! Had me laughing again! 😂 It is so fun that you saw Mickey first thing. And I’m super excited that you all got to see Happily Ever After and loved it. We were there this past summer, but we narrowly missed it. I forget why. I’m sure I’ll remember when we edit that blog entry. Lol. I’m excited to see it next time. Pooh is also an incredible way to end the day. We’ve done that before. Sometimes it’s just perfect. So glad you had a great first day. Looking forward to reading more soon! Thanks for sharing!
